Urban Research & Practice Journal**New for 2008**
Call for papers (opens pdf) The European Urban Research Association (EURA) launched their new journal Urban Research & Practice in 2008. Urban Research & Practice provides a systematic description of urban issues, urban developments and urban policy and implementation. It seeks to explain variations in urban policies or urban governance and analyse and evaluate the effects of these polices and processes. It also looks at the European-wide factors that impact on urban areas, urban policies and urban governance. The journal aims to bridge the intellectual and geographical ‘divides’ that currently exist in the field of urban affairs. As well as traditional academic papers, the journal includes a policy section, a project report section and book reviews. Urban Research & Practice appears three times a year in both print and online formats. It is under the editorial direction of Professor Rob Atkinson, University of the West of England. His fellow editors are Dr Ivan Tosics, Hungary; Dr Jan Erling Klausen, Norway and Dr Cristiana Rossignolo, Italy. The contents of the first three issues can be viewed as pdf's: Volume 1 Issue 1 March 2008 Individual members of EURA qualify for a reduced individual journal subscription of 40 euros per year (which represents a 35% reduction on the normal individual subscription rate of 62 euros a year). Professor Rob Atkinson, Editor of Urban Research & Practice, said: ‘The launch of Urban Research and Practice represents an important step forward in the development of EURA. It is a key part of our commitment to bring together scholars and practitioners from across Europe and beyond to focus on urban issues. We see this as an opportunity not only to disseminate knowledge based on high quality research but also to inform and engage with the important policy debates that are affecting cities in Europe and across the world’. Rod Cookson, Urban Studies publisher at Routledge added: ‘We are delighted to be partnering with EURA in this new venture. Urban Research & Practice will provide a significant new outlet for quality research in a rapidly-expanding field, and will help policymakers develop deeper, richer engagement with the urban challenges that face Europe in coming decades.’ For information on how to submit an article to Urban Research & Practice, please visit http://www.tandf.co.uk/journals/rurp.
